ARTWORKING

Do it anyway

The best part about a commitment to a challenge is that it gives you a reason to do it anyway.

Blogging every day is an easier habit to stick to than blogging once a week because you can’t say “i’ll do it tomorrow” over and over until the last day and then miss your target. You simply do it anyway.

When I talk about doing things like art or writing “every day” I don’t really think that has to be 7 days a week. I’m sure you could have one or two days a week off, although it might not be easier. If you don’t follow your routine during a vacation and then come back and immediately restart your routine, I’m sure you could continue your regular schedule again. Don’t let “it has to be every day” be a reason for you not to do it.

But if you want to make a change in yourself or in the world, you can’t do the thing that you want to do only when you feel like it.

It has to be the normal. It has to be what you do. If it feels out of the ordinary, you’re going to struggle to keep the routine up. If the work feels ordinary and routine, the struggles that come along with trying to create will feel ordinary and routine too.
