Photo of the week: Green Park, London

You could take a shortcut through Green Park to get between Buckingham Palace and St James’s Palace or perhaps between the Royal Airforce Club and the Oxford and Cambridge Club.

I was walking from the South Bank to catch a bus. I stopped to take some photographs. I would later get absolutely drenched waiting at Marble Arch because I missed my bus and there was a storm coming. But this was before. The atmosphere was thick and calm. I had to photograph the trees with their dry leaves on the ground. No wind. Streetlights and car lights, shoppers and tourists: an unofficial parade not yet canceled by the weather. Sometimes it’s worth getting rained on.
