Photo of the week: Christ Church Meadow Walk, Oxford

In this meadow in 1784, James Sadler, a local pastry chef and chemist completed the first ascent in a balloon by an Englishman. He ascended to about 3600 feet. It’s a beautiful meadow. I can see why he chose it for his first flight.
