50 days of blogging: here is what I think

It feels as though I just started this 100 day blogging challenge, but I’m halfway through.

I wrote a post after the first month. If you want to know how I felt after 30 days, all of which still applies, click here

Some thoughts on 50 posts:

  1. Consistency is good. Variety is also good. You don’t have to do the same type of post. I expressed this in my 30 day update as “there are no rules” and I think this is a valuable lesson. Casey Neistat’s (advertising) career defining ad campaign Make It Count with Nike came about when he decided to throw out his (safe) plan at the last minute and start flying around the world and documenting the experience. This was a compelling story and a great advertisement. But he wouldn’t have been in a position to make that decision if he hadn’t been consistently putting out content before that point. I’m working on finding a sweet spot between consistency and variety.

  2. I do a lot of different types of jobs. Having one ‘job’ that I do daily as a way to share with my community is helpful to feel a sense of continuity in my work.

  3. I enjoy writing. Even thought it has occasionally been a bit of a struggle to post something because of other commitments, I have grown to enjoy writing more than ever.

  4. I will keep up this blog after 100 days. I might not do it every day, but I have no intention of stopping entirely.

  5. Keeping going is a lot easier than starting. Having already posted so many times, it doesn’t feel hard to write another post or to decide to upload a sketch or some photographs.

  6. Good enough is good enough. It doesn’t have to be perfect. I’ve had to go back and correct a few typos. That’s ok.

Thank you for reading and for sharing my posts with your friends and family.
