The most important thing a student can do

The most important thing a student can do is find and learn from great teachers. A great teacher is like finding a shortcut. They can tell you what to read, they can help you work through the most difficult areas of a subject and make it seem easy.

The second most important, and makes a person a truly great student is the ability to learn the most that they can from a particular teacher or lesson rather than getting fixated on a specific idea of what it is they are supposed to learn.

If you are a student, you probably won’t truly understand exactly what it is that you need to know to achieve mastery of the subject or skill that is being taught until you have already learned it. And we are all students.

Learning can be frustrating. Choosing the wrong teacher can make learning unbearable. A student finding a great teacher and only learning the things they think they need to know is a tragedy.
